Series Title: Rendition case files, 1982-1989
Description: The legal staff maintained rendition case files as part of the statutory responsibilities of the governor's office. Renditions are warrants filed by governors of other states with the governor of Ohio seeking return of accused or convicted felons from Ohio. The files contain: rendition warrants from non-Ohio governors; and letters from those governors and their local prosecutors listing the accused or convicted felon's name, Ohio location on the date of the warrant filing, crime, and reason for filing the rendition warrant. The files also include copies of the Ohio governor's letters and warrants sent to local Ohio county sheriffs authorizing the arrest and extradition of accused or convicted felons from Ohio. Also included are copies of letters from Ohio's governor to the out-of-state governors noting that their requests for extradition actions have been approved or denied.
