Description: Many of these records maintained by the governor's office were damaged in a l95l fire. The records contain: extradition warrants from other states; unclaimed certificates and certificates and affidavits for notary public; applications for restoration of citizenship; applications and recommendations for commissions; reprieve, restoration, and commutation certificates; and miscellaneous letters, including letters concerning the Kansas Relief Committee, Texas cattle fever, and the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. The records also contain reports from: the Adjutant General; the Attorney General; the boards of charities, embalming examiners, dental examiners, pharmacy, and public works; the bureau of labor statistics; the canal, battlefield, fish and game, Jamestown exposition, and codifying commissions; the state chemist, inspector of oils, and auditor; the agriculture, and banks and banking departments; Cleveland state hospital; Longview hospital; Miami University; the Ohio Penitentiary; and Ohio Geological Survey. Also included in the records are: bonds; deeds; financial statements; invitations; petitions for pardons; copies of a proclamation; resolutions; requisitions; resignations; warrants; a record book from Fort Stephenson; and a civil war muster roll for company F, third regiment.
