JAES MINARY TO WORTHINGTON North Paint november the 28th 1813 General Worthington Sir I promised to wright to you About the time you would arrive at Washington City & have never got any instructions from the Secretary of war since my acceptance of the appointment in the Rangers I have reported my self to General McArthur and have got no answer from him Capt McCormick I am informed has got recruiting orders of Capt McCormick has more friends in the Senate than I have and but one Company allowed to the State of Ohio of Course my appointment must fall Sir I think the Rangers would bee of more use in the spring than in the winter, their is two thousand Militia from the State of Ohio now in Service their tim will not be out untill spring the fruntier Militia is called out by Companys which is a grait injury to them in raising Grane to support their familys and they Will not be able to pay for their land if the Continue Calling them out so the Rangers would save this Expence and keep the Militia at home with their famileys, please tender me to Mrs. Worth- ington and family and accept assurances of My high Esteem for your self I remain w ith respect your Verry Able & Obt Servt James Minary Genl Thomas Worthington 222 |
