McARTHUR TO WORTHINGTON Chillicothe June 23rd 1813 Dear Sir, I this moment recd. your favor of the 17th inst. for which I beg you to accept sincere thanks. About a week since I wrote to the secretary of war requesting permission to accompany Genl. Harrison on the campaign was it not that I fear that I shall tire your patience with my repeated solicitations I would ask you to interceed for me with the president, if I am realy ex- changed why can I not be permited to return, and assist in wiping off tie stai of last summer? Pray sir, what can you inform me on the subject of the exchange. I am geting impatient to be in active service. You will know my disposition and that I would never have accepted of an appointment in the army did I not expect to be permited to accompany the N.W. army when it moved. I have not recd. the copy of the regulations &c which you mentioned that were sent by Major Graham. In haste yours Duncan McArthur Genl Worthington 203 |
