I have mentioned to a member of the number the notice that Richardson pu- blished in his paper, last fall, and suggested the probability of a resolu- tion being introduced into the house by Sterrett or some of his parties re- questing you to resign your seat in Congress, but as far as I can learn, such a resolution would be treated with the most hasty contempt, and voted out of the house -- Capt. Edwards and Lucas are extremely anxious (as well as myself) that they be exchanged as soon as possible, I wish you would be so good as to mention their names, and the subject to the Secretary of War -- Lieut Col. Campbell has had brush with the Indians, in which he was successful -- I enclose you an account of the action -- The army has not yet moved on Genl. Harrison is expected here today or tomorrow -- from what I can learn Mr Morrow will be elected senator -- I believe there are 10 or 15 candidates - Monett or Creighton would condescend to serve if the Legis- lature would condescend to elect them [illeg.] dinners are frequent, and the members treated with much attention and politeness - I am with great respect your obt. humbl servt.
