WILLIAM REYNOLDS TO WORTHINGTON

Zanesville 18th November 1812

General Worthington

On the 12th April last I received a Commission from Governor Meigs as Capt. in a Company of Volunteers, and marched to Detroit in that capacity I continued until the 25th July when at the solicitations of Genl Hull, I re- signed and accepted of an appointment in the Staff -- a copy of which appoint- ment is hereunto annexed in the business of Issuing Commissary I continued untill the army recrossed the Detroit river Should the Legislature, in taking into view that part of the presidents message which refer to "the re-organi- zation of the Staff establishment" be of opinion that the army would be better served by having such an office, especially in the state of Ohio - should be glad to fill that appointment -- Recommendations are made thro' the inter- position of friends and on them I shall depend, not only in this matter, but another of some consequence to myself

which has been made Known to our mutual friend Doctr Campbell, and to him I refer you for information on the Subject

Accept my dear Sir a hearty wish for a speedy and energetic session

William Reynolds
