DUNCAN MCARTHUR TO WORTINGTON Zanesville Decr. 12th 1811 Dear Sir Permit me to introduce to your acquaintance, Lieut. Jesup, of the U.S. army with whom I have contracted a small acquaintance and who has been highly recommended to me your attention to this young Gentleman will confer a favour on me. The prospect of a war, has inspired our young men with a military ardour scarcel to be equaled. I am told that there is a company almost raised and ready to march in Chillicothe provid they can get their favourite officers appointed. I am requested to mention to you the names of those who are about to apply for appointments in the army. Should an addition corps be raised and request your interference in their be- half provid you should think them worthy. to wit, Andrew Lindsay, Captain, John C. Morgan Leiut and Daniel D. Armstrong Ensign those young men all wish to be appointed to the same company. Capt. John L. Tabb wishes to be appointed Captain and William McDonald Junr. Leut. secretary at war for that purpose. I find that our old acuqaintance, the Shawese prophet, has not turned out as great a friend, as was once expected. however I doubt not but his late treachery wil: terminate in the totle extinction of his party Please give my compliments to Mrs. Worthington & family, respectfully I am Dear Sir yours Duncan McArthur Genl.
