I recd yours of the 1st. of this Inst. requesting me to send you an account of the public Arms & Accoutrements now in my Brgd. I have delayd some time in writing to you to asertain their situation -- the 100 Stand you sent me are in this place and Worthington except 25 stand that I sent to Major Kratzer who can inform you of their condition -- as he is in Chillicothe -- the 75 the ballence of the 100 are perhaps one fourth oute of order some of which will want much repairing -- you will recollect that there was no Cartouch Boxes nor straps sent with them -- the 100 Stand of Armes you sent to individuals in Delaware County I know nothing of as they were never under my care or contrate -- but I will endavour to ascitain their condition and inform you accordingly --I understand oure Legislate has sent forward a resolution to Congress requesting them to make an apropriation for the expences of oure Campain so far so well, but I still expect that if you [illeg.] think proper to interest your self in the subject there would be a greater prospect of success more espescialy as I belive certain characters will buisey themselves in writing to Congress to prevent an apropriation - I fear that if that army is not paid that no ease of emergencey will ever get oute the militia again for such is the seeming determination of numbers, they say that when other Armys are aboute to march the resources of the nation are opend to suply them with all the necessarys of life - as we had not a cent of public money to suply us they think they ought at least to be paid for their services and the money actuly expended by individu- als for the use of the army -- the pay to each individual is but small bu- the sum extremely [illeg. to get it -- your puticular interference on this subject will lay a considerable portion of the patriotic Citizens of this state under obligations to you -- together with your very Hum St.
