OSL MUNGER TO MEIGS Montgomery County Decbr. 2. 1812 Dear Sir, I would inform your Excellency that Agreable to your Orders I have Ordered one Company under the Command of Capt. Francies Patterson to St. Marys in Order to Guard that Post and the Public Stores at that Place but on his arival the Commanding Officer of that Post would not admit him into the Garrison Capt Patterson Produced his Orders and Acquainted him from what Authority they were Issued, the Commandant reported the Circums- tances to Genl. Harrison who Sent Orders for Capt Petterson to fall back to Lorrimies and build A Place of Deposit at that Place, but on Enquiry how he should Obtain Provisions Mr Piatt Refused furnishing him the Capt Come to Dayton to See if Mr. Compton would Supply him at that Place, he agread to Send him flower but he had not meat -- I wish you to direct me whether to Discharge the Company or have them remain at Lorrimies as they were particularly Distined for St. Marys -- I have Nothing very Particular to inform your Excellency, the Indians Continue to Steal Horses on our frontier Every Opportunity there has ben one man Killed on white water this fall and two Girls near Greenville which I sopose you have heard of before. we have ben Able to keep the frontiers from Braking up as yet but almost Every familey wants A Company of men to guard them I have five Companies and two Lieutenants Commands on Duty at this time from this Brigade - under the Command of Majr.
