OSL PERRY TO MEIGS Loremies Apl. 30th 1812 Dear Sir, I have this Day arived at this Place with a full Company of men Com- pleatly -- Armed & Equitied -- in every way -- I am of opinion that it is almost impracticable to build a block houses Where the Old Garrison stood as their is not a Stick of timber that Will Suit Within 2/4 of a mile; of the place - I think we had better build -- some place adjacent in the Woods -- I have not been here long enough, to give an opinion as yet. I do want a copy of Muster Rolls -- the Waggoner waits & I have no time to write -- but will as soon as I have time & get the place Disignated for the Block house & the men at work and a Detachment -- fixed & Sent to [illeg. ] on the frontiers. I do intend to Start a messenger to Wabakanat- ough[?] for the Indians to Come in and talk With us -- in order that they may understand our intentions -- I Am Sir Yours Respectfully &c Wm. Perry Capt. |
