OSL PERRY TO EIGS Dayton Apl 20th 1812 Sir Agreeable to Your Orders I did Intend.. to Start on tomorrow - but the Water is so high that it is imposible to Start, Lieut. McCormack & myself had had, some Conversation, respecting the building the Block house I wish you to give a Description of Such a one as Will answer, and also how we are to find, Tools - Such as are required, I also think we Cannot get Such powder as will Suit us in this place; Major Santey has some that is good -- You have not Informed, me in your last orders how provisions, Shall be furnished; on what Contracts, Will on Ought to be entred into. Or how Supplies, will be furnished out. After We leave this place -- Camp Kettles We will want; and None in this place -- A number of the men hear Cannot furnish Blankets. Without some pay -- The first Sargent of Our Company -- Will hand You this - and be so good [as to] give him, an Answer perticularly [illeg.] what Kind of Block house and also if I shall enter into a Contract at 12 1/2 Cents &c. I hope he Will not be Detained, as the men are uneasy And Want to be marched &c -- I aM Sir &c yours Respectfully -- &c & Wm. Perry Capt |
