J Meiggs Sir By request of a number of the officers of My Division, for Your oppinion respecting the fines assessed on delinquets of the Militia for not performing their Tower of duty since the War commenced, we find great difficulty arising in the Collection of them, should it not be a given pint that they are collectable as the Law now is, we wish Your Excellency would use Your influance to have an established Uniform principle throughout the State adopted by the Legislator - a line from Your Excellency, will oblige a number of the officers -- I am Sir very respectfully Your Obedient Servant Elijah Wadsworth P.S.
