OBL WADSWORTH TO MEIGS [Can)field 21st. July 1812 Sir Capn. Campbell informed me after he was ready to march, that from sickness and the absence of some of his men he was not able to raise over forty five including officers agreeable to his request I concluded to fill up his company, and ordered Genl. Perkins to forward thirty one of his drafts for that purpose, some doubt has arisen respecting the pro- priety of the order to join the Drafts and Volunteers in the same company, and whether the drafts are bound to obey the commandant of the Volunteers -- Sir your opinion on this subject is earnestly solicited, and the Drafts will delay marching untill your communication is received, I am Sir very respectfully Your Obedient Servt.
