OSL TUPPER TO MEIGS Tuesday evening 8 oclock [Aug. 30, 1812] Dr Sir I have this moment received the pleasing intelligence that Gov Harrison is Appointed to command our Armies I send you the Sec of War Order on the subject by express -- We have had one Trops out this day we had upwards of 670 on parade -- I shall send off Tomorrow an express tomorrow, ordering the Detachment from Muskingum to this place -- The Cannon from Chillicothe is arrived -- The wheels are ready to put to- gether -- The Militia are on their march in all directi n, I am told for six Months service -- Many are Marching for Deleware, some to Franklin- ton -- I fear you will find that this raising en Masse will give you Much trouble -- We shall want your presence here in organizing, but I hope you will first see Gov Harrison & Let our Troops pursue this Routes while Kentuckey goes the other -- I will attend to your instructions & perhaps be able to take from you some of the fatigues I perplexities, so that I can get your wish on the subject -- I write while the express is saddling his horse - I am now convinced we shall Make a campaign to Detroit this season -- Gov Harrison appointment will quiet the slanders which are making disorder & distroying all our indeavours for the honor & safety of the cause in which we are engaged -- If Troops arrive not less than 50 Rank and file not of the quota shallI accept their services?
