[6] 1812 His Excellency Return J Meigs Sir I have this moment received your orders of the 4th inst, and have fortunately met with Col Holcomb at the same moment -- The two companies shall be at Chillicothe at the earliest possible moment, The unexpected call will you are sensible find the men scattered, some I am convinced are at this moment out of the state - I cannot state what number will be within our power to Assemble within three days, (the time which will be required for assembling them from the several parts of the county) I am however in hopes of collecting enough to form two pretty full companies - I shall very reaily attend them to Chillicothe or rather leave this place for Chillicothe, the moment the Companies are Assembled & have marched & from thence will with readiness (and I trust with fidelity) perform any services my country shall see cause to assign me -- Your express has waited with great impatience even while I have prepared this hasty note I have the honor to be very Respectfully your Hl Sert Edw W.
