Meigs Esqr -- I think thier is no need of my Apologizing for Addressing you - All Communication of any Kind that may be depended on is Cut off from this to Detroit - last week on Wednesday an Ingagement was had Night Brownstown - and I Believe it Termanated Unfavorably Seven of the french soldiers that Belongd. to this place have return'd -- Two of which ware wounded -- but cannot give any of the Perticulars -- That could be relyed on -- Last Sunday another a few Miles Beyound Brownstown was had and it is stated our Troops had the best of it. - it is my Opinion that a reain- forcement of Troops is Highly Necessary -- that they should be Mounted & Send in without Delay -- if the British & Indians shuld gain an Advantage of our Army they would Make for this place their is Considerable Pro- vision -- and Cattle -- Exclusive of what is Intended for the Army hear -- it is my Opinion that Some of the Canadian French w ould be glad if the Oppertunity of Supplying the British -- it is now thirteen days since we have had Information from Detroit that may be depended on -- Majr.
