33 I have to request you will please to send no Instructions for the Payment of the Officers and Seamen British and Provincial on Lake Erie I beg also to inform you the Quar. Master General will undertake the Office of Commissioner for the present as I have no one to appoint to that situation Mr. Hall being discharged from the Marine Establishment for refusing his services when they were most wanted. I have already appointed for the time being Provl. Lieut. Bauvis Master Attendant and shall appoint others to the different situations as soon as I meet persons properly qualified. I should wish Provl. Lieut. Rolette to have one of the best situations for his very active services he is fit for either of the three but I should think Storekeeper best from the confused state in which I found the Dock Yard at this Port and the Quar. Master General being absent I was necessitated to interfere more than I otherwise should have done and make such appointments & regulations, as was most absolutely necessary I am Sir &c &c &c (Signed) R.
