28 BARCLAY TO STUART (12) H M S Queen Charlotte at Anchor off Long Point July 29th. 1813 Sir On the Arrival of the Mary at the Anchorage I have to desire that you will forthwith begin giving her a Cargo for which purpose you are to call on Major Bawis[?] for the assistance of the Militia - I before mentioned that I wanted a Supply of Spars, by a Contract to be brought to your Store. I beg you will use every exertion to get such a Contract on foot. I have sent my Carpenter that he may give you the dimensions of such Spars as are most wanted. I am Sir Your Obedt. Servant (Signed) R H B To BARCLAY TO HALL (13) H M Ship Queen Charlotte August 3rd 1813 Sir I have just received information that Sixty of the Newfoundland Regt. have gone on to Amherstburg which Men are intended for the Squadron You will therefore apply to the Commanding Officer of the Garrison for them -- and you will make such use of them as will most conduce to the prompt equipment of H.M.S. DetroitI shall return soon to Amherstburg -- and I hope to find her in as forward a state as Circumstances may have put in your power - I believe I shall bring Seamen and Guns up with me. The Enemys Squadron are out on Lake Ontario -- they landed about One thousand men at Burlington but finding it much stronger than they expected, they suddenly re-embarked and sailed in a direction for York I am Sir Your Obedt.
