Licence to Keep a ferry for one year from the date hereof was Granted to James Edwards from the mouth of a Gut nearly opposite Limestone to the opposite Kentucky Shore. -

The Executive of the United States on the 31st. day of December in the year 1799 appointed     [1798?] Charles Willing Byrd Secretary of, in, to, and for The Territory of the United States North west of the River Ohio.

Previous to the above appointment and subsequent to the resignation of Bryd's Predecessor, the Governor issued the following commissions, procla- tions, [sic] &c.

October the 16 - The Governor appointed James Miller a Justice of the peace for the County of Hamilton. 19. He revoked the commission of James Davis a Captain in the 2d. Battalion of the Militia of the said County. November the 9. He appointed Daniel C Cooper and James McCashen Justices of the Peace for the aforesaid County

December the 11. He appointed Rice Bullock Auditor of Public accounts. 14. He appointed John Armstrong Territorial Treasurer.
