Novr. the 1st. 1795 The Governour appointed Joseph Gilman, John Gilbert Pettit, Dudley Woodbridge, Daniel Loring and Isaac Peirce Justices of the Court of Common pleas for the County of Washington and issued to them a General Commission for holding the Court -- Also appointed and commissioned Joseph Gilman, Isaac Peirce, Robert Oliver, John Gilbert Pettit, Dudley Woodbridge Josiah Monroe, Absolam Martin and David Lockwood Justices of the peace for the said County, and commissioned them also to hold the Court of general Quarter Sessions of the Peace.

          May the 16th. 1796 --

Since my Arrival upon the wes ern Waters I have received such certain Information of In- trusion upon the Lands of the United States even to a very excessive Degree that I believe it my Duty to make to you Communication thereupon by this the earliest Opportunity - Between the Scioto and the Ohio Company pur- chase the same has fallen under the Observation of Judge Turner who will if' necessary make to you Sir, a particular relation thereof.
