Settlements in the County of Washington, this Territory,
and of the assembling of great Numbers of Indians
at Sanduskey for the de[c]lared purpose of Attacking the
Posts - Requesting that he would hold two hundred Mi-
litia in Readiness to move, upon Order, at the shortest
Notice Also that he would write to the County Lieu-
tenants of Westmoreland Fayette & Alleghaney desi-
ring of them to make Answers to the Letters which
were addressed to them on the 12th. Ult -- as imme-
diately as possible.

General Orders to the Militia
Marietta County of Washington and Territory of
the United States North west of the River Ohio
Sunday March the 6th. 1791 -
Returns of the Militia, with a Report of the
Arms Ammunition & State of Defence in the diffe-
rent Settlements are to be made to the Secretary of
the Territory as immediately as possible.
Cormmanding Officers of Counties will apportion
the Militia to their several Fortresses and upon the
Firing of one Cannon or three Muskets they are instant-
ly to repair to their Alarm Posts And all firing of
Guns within one Mile of any of the Fortifications (ex-
cept for Defence, or the Purpose of Alarm & under
proper Authority) is hereby most positively prohi-
bited -- without previous Permission from the Officer
commanding.
